From the beach you can reach most of the snorkeling sites. In fact, the coral reefs are close to the shore. Bring your goggles and snorkel and get in the water. Underwater, you can witness the unique, colorful, lush and varied marine life. This is mainly because of the magnificent coral reefs and volcanic rocks. Spot coral fish, sea turtles, dolphins, giant manta rays, lobsters and harmless nurse sharks.

Snorkeling at Tugboat

On the southeast side of the island you will find Caracas Bay. This is a large bay that is visited by locals especially on Sundays for a delicious BBQ.

About 30 years ago, a tug boat sank here, hence the name “Tug Boat.” The boat rests about 5 meters swimming on the bottom and is a popular diving and snorkeling site. The place can be reached by boat and you can just snorkel to it. The nice thing about this is that you will encounter all kinds of beautiful things underwater along the way so the swim to it is well worth it!

It’s about a 200-meter swim and then you can see the wreck through the clear azure water. It is covered with coral and you can find moray eels, trumpet fish, angelfish and tube coral. Further down by the walls, in the crevices of the rocks, you will also find many marine animals, namely scorpion fish and crabs. If you are lucky you may even spot seahorses.

It is delightful because there is a weak current and little wave action.
